Last spring, Monte-Carlo Club had the pleasure of taking part in two events in Geneva that were particularly appreciated by cigar enthusiasts. Although different in format, both shared the same purpose: to enjoy a convivial moment around premium cigars and introduce discerning enthusiasts to the world of Monte-Carlo Club.

Two Evenings at Speakeasy Genève

The first gatherings took place at Speakeasy Genève, during two evenings dedicated to discovering the Monte-Carlo Club range.

On these occasions, participants had the opportunity to taste three of our signature vitolas:

• Short Robusto
• Toro
• Churchill

Bringing together more than fifty enthusiasts over two evenings, the event inspired many conversations about the artisanal production of our cigars, their Nicaraguan origin and the philosophy behind our brand.

The feedback was particularly encouraging. Participants highlighted the balance of the blends, the quality of the construction and the consistency of the burn—all essential elements in the experience of a premium cigar.

Beyond the tastings themselves, these two evenings confirmed the growing interest among Geneva enthusiasts in handcrafted Nicaraguan cigars. Nicaragua is now recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious cigar-growing regions.

The Blind-Tasting Challenge at the Cercle Genevois du Cigare

A few days later, Monte-Carlo Club was invited to take part in an evening organised by the prestigious Cercle Genevois du Cigare.

The concept was simple: a blind tasting in which participants evaluated the cigars solely on their intrinsic qualities, without being influenced by their origin or brand.

Two Monte-Carlo Club vitolas were selected for the tasting:

• Robusto
• Toro

This format is always a particularly revealing exercise, as it places every cigar on an equal footing. Only the sensations, aromatic richness, balance and quality of craftsmanship matter.

The feedback received during the evening was highly encouraging. Several participants associated some of the profiles they tasted with Cuban cigars, suggesting that the blends impressed through their complexity and elegance.

Cuban cigars naturally hold a unique place in the history of premium cigars and remain an essential benchmark for many enthusiasts. Nevertheless, seeing experienced participants compare certain characteristics of our cigars with qualities traditionally associated with Cuba was particularly gratifying for our entire team.

We will return to this experience very soon in an article devoted entirely to the blind tasting. It will include a detailed analysis of the tasting sheets, comments from the participants and the main insights from this particularly rewarding evening.

Nicaragua, Now an Essential Origin

These two events also provided an opportunity to highlight a reality now firmly established in the world of premium cigars: Nicaragua’s finest terroirs have become some of the most sought-after in the world.

Handcrafted in Estelí, Monte-Carlo Club cigars combine carefully selected tobaccos with expertise passed down through several generations. Each vitola is crafted to offer a balanced experience, characterised by notes of fine wood, cocoa, gentle spices and leather.
